UPPER EAST SIDE PIED-A-TERRE
A couple with homes in upstate New York and Switzerland renovated this two bedroom apartment for use as a New York Pied-a-terre. They are collectors of Asian art and wanted to create an environment which would do justice to their collection, they chose to use materials, architectural details and finishes that were sophisticated yet uncomplicated in order to display the art without detracting from it. At a later date, the couple bought the one bedroom apartment next door. We joined the two apartments giving them a dining room with a concealed office and an additional bedroom.
Despite being in the center of Manhattan, this elegant apartment (now with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a living room and dining room/office) exudes an extreme sense of sophistication and calm.
