This
2-storey 19th century carriage house had been renovated several times in the past.
But when the current owners decided to completely redo the first floor, we found
ourselves removing all the plaster walls back to the original brick, plaster ceiling
back to the wood joists and hard wood floor boards to the wood sleepers. We then
found termites, dry rot dangerously corroded plumbing and improperly grounded
electrical.
After correcting all the problems, we moved the house solidly
into the 21st century, with a stainless kitchen from Italy, a floating curved
wall dividing the kitchen from the entry, storage closets dividing the entry from
the first bedroom and bathroom, and a dramatic stainless stair and handrail on
the stairway.
